Automation Engineer - Carlow

Automation Engineer                   County Carlow           €50-70K

This is a great opportunity for a skilful individual to join a well-established and successful company based in Carlow.

The successful candidate will be managing projects from cradle to grave with travel to client site approximately 2 days per week, so a driving license is required.  

Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Responsible for all controls and automation equipment and systems within production area.
  • Ensure high level of process automation, implement the automation strategy for the plant in close calibration with the engineering team and other functional departments.
  • Safeguarded the automation process in respect of safe operations through regular checks and update of control systems.
  • Support managers with defining work packages, planning and organising automation activities.
  • Execute test cases, maintain and report on automation equipment performance.
  • Generate automation solutions and define and implement their characteristic.
  • Identify any root causes of automation faults/breakdowns and prioritise corrective actions to meet operational processing objectives.
  • Modification of PLC’s input and output programming.
  • Ensure quality in projects and products for usability, reliability, functionality, marketability and manufacturability.
  • Have the ability to define customers technical requirements and act of both technical and functional specifications.

Experience and Knowledge:

  • 3+ years’ experience in the control, development and modification of PLC software
  • Excellent knowledge of the automation processes and procedures.
  • Qualified to a minimum HNC Level in a relevant subject
  • Experience in the water/wastewater industry highly desirable
  • Strong attention to detail.  
  • Good communicator with ability to work well in a team.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Positive attitude towards work, and willingness to continue to learn.
