We are currently recruiting for Buyers for a well-established Manufacturing company based in Co. Antrim.

The role would involve the purchase of goods, materials, and services to ensure that the company operational needs are met, considering price, quality and delivery and to ensure continuity of supply. You would be working within the Strategic Purchasing Department.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Support the procurement team in the development of product category strategies by undertaking market analysis and research.
  • Responsible for maintaining the material cost Bill of Materials for all products.
  • Collate Request for Quotation (RFQ) responses and complete costing sheets
  • Manage supplier invoice queries and resolve in agreed timescales
  • Populate Sage System with the price, lead-time and supplier details as necessary
  • Maintain a supplier database to strengthen the procurement process
  • To analyse the cost of manufacture of parts considering the cost of raw materials, labour costs, machining costs to ensure the company is getting value for money from the subcontracting supply base.
  • Maintain technical reference files for all bought components and related suppliers
  • Good knowledge of purchasing, negotiation, commercial understanding, and cost breakdown and experience of working closely with suppliers
  • Recover money owed from suppliers for non-performance and warranty claims.
  • Able to add value, reduce costs and input to business improvements and to actively contribute to New Product Introduction projects.

Key Skills

  • Degree level (or equivalent) in a Business, Engineering or Supply Chain Management related discipline OR 4 years’ experience in a senior purchasing role.
  • Experience working in a purchasing team within heavy industries, engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Good knowledge of purchasing, negotiation, commercial understanding and cost breakdown
  • Experience of working closely with suppliers
  • Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships and keep up good communications
  • Demonstratable experience of cost reductions taken from idea to implementation.
