Inform3 are recruiting a Building Inspector / Clerk of Works to join a growing construction and design team in Dublin.

This position is suited to a candidate seeking to develop their technical inspection, quality assurance, and site coordination skills within the construction industry.

The successful candidate will initially work under the guidance of a Senior Building Inspector, with responsibilities increasing progressively as experience and competency develop.

Building Inspector / Clerk of Works Responsibilities

  • Assist with inspections of construction works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and applicable building regulations.
  • Monitor workmanship standards and identify defects or non-conforming works.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, site reports, and photographic documentation.
  • Support quality control procedures and follow-up actions on corrective works.
  • Support the day-to-day monitoring of construction activities across project sites.
  • Assist in preparing progress reports and inspection updates for project teams and clients.
  • Maintain site checklists and records in line with company procedures.
  • Observe and report on construction progress, quality, and compliance matters.
  • Assist in monitoring compliance with health and safety legislation and site procedures.
  • Identify unsafe working practices and report issues to senior staff.
  • Participate in safety briefings, inspections, and compliance reviews.
  • Promote a safe working environment across all project activities.
  • Support communication between contractors, consultants, and project management teams.
  • Attend site meetings and assist with recording actions and observations.
  • Liaise with stakeholders under the supervision of senior personnel.
  • Assist with resolving site-related quality and compliance queries.
  • Assist with the collection and review of as-built drawings, certificates, warranties, and handover documentation.
  • Support snagging inspections and tracking of outstanding items.
  • Contribute to project close-out and handover processes.
  • Participate in structured training and mentoring programmes.
  • Attend technical workshops, site demonstrations, and internal training sessions.
  • Support the preparation of inspection guidance and training materials where required.
  • Continuously develop technical knowledge of construction methods, regulations, and quality standards.

Building Inspector / Clerk of Works Requirements

  • Qualification in Construction Management, Building Surveying, Engineering, Architectural Technology, or related discipline.
  • Understanding of construction drawings, quality standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication, organisation, and report-writing skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.
  • Previous construction or site inspection experience desirable.
  • Knowledge of Irish Building Regulations and health & safety requirements advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail with good problem-solving skills.
  • Professional attitude with willingness to learn and develop.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
