Commercial Manager / Senior QS
This position would suit a Senior QS who is looking to take the next step in their career into management.
A Medium sized Civil Engineering contractor from the north west is currently looking to recruit a Commercial Manager / Senior Qs / Commercial Lead. This is a very senior role in the company. You will be overseeing all the live projects from a commercial aspect. Most of the work is based in Northern Ireland with some down south although very little travel will be required. You could be managing 5 – 10 live projects at any given time.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Responsibility for day to day running of contracts including but not limited to:
- Manage day to day operational duties
- Manage and coordinate project team staff to ensure performance and delivery of projects to the highest health and safety, quality and environmental standards
- Responsibility for the delivery of the project on time, within specification and on budget
- Work closely with the managing director
- Must be very commercially aware and be able to identify and manage cost control opportunities on projects
- Must be technically competent with the ability to set and follow project milestones and deliveries
- Ensure projects run to the highest levels of health and safety, quality and environmental standards are met
Requirements
- Degree in Construction Management or Engineering
- Strong knowledge of temporary works, current construction techniques and value engineering concepts
- Have 5 years + experience in managing medium scale heavy civil contracts with value up to £2m
- Have high standards of quality of work
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work with Client/Design teams and supply chain members
- Demonstrate financial, commercial and business development acumen
- Ability to work well under pressure and within deadline environment
- Registered / Member of a professional body – desirable
