About the Company:

Our client here at Inform3 are currently on the lookout for a Design Office Manager to join an expanding Engineering firm based close to Dungannon.

The Manufacturing Design Office Manager leads the engineering design team, ensuring that technical drawings, 3D models, and documentation are accurate, produced on time, and aligned with manufacturing capabilities.

 This role bridges the gap between design engineering and production, focusing on design-for-manufacturability (DFM), efficiency, and technical accuracy.

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Organise and schedule the workload of the design engineers under their management.
  • Agree times on jobs and ensure these are met.
  • Co-ordinate with production and sales in order to meet the specs of the design required.
  • Hands on 3D design of parts, components, systems and assemblies will be required.
  • Agree the format of all work being produced with the production team and ensure that the standard is continually met.
  • Check and approve the work being completed and have handover meetings with production.
  • Tutor and engage the junior members of the team to allow them to develop their talents.
  • Continually seek improved methods for manufacturing to allow for shorter production times.
  • Problem solve and use analytical reasoning to overcome challenges.
  • Manage staff members who may work from home to ensure output and quality is upheld.
  • Set KPI's for staff members, monitor and produce solutions for improvements.

 

Experience Required:

  • A relevant qualification in Engineering, Product Design, or a related field (e.g., Degree, HND, or equivalent) is generally preferred.
  • Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in a senior design or design management role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Strong proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD).
  • Solid understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes (e.g., sheet metal, fabrication), and GD&T.
  • Experience with PDM/PLM systems and ERP/MRP software.
  • Strong project management, communication, and team-building skills.
