Electronic Engineer - Northern Ireland

Our client is an innovative environmental, engineering, manufacturing and servicing business.  Based in Newy they are currently undergoing unprecedented growth and currently require a committed Electronic Engineer to join their team.

Job Summary/Experience

  • Electronic Engineering or related field or comparable professional experience.
  • Around 5 - 7 years’ experience in a relevant industry working on complex PCB CAD designs
  • Experienced with one or more schematic/layout toolchains such as Altium Concord (Essential), Mentor, CAM350, GCPrevue. Knowledge of import/export for ECAD/MCAD collaboration.
  • A background in Altium Designer and Altium Concord Component Vault, lifecycle management, schematic, and PCB templates, obtained from industry experience.
  • Significant PCB CAD design experience in applications including analogue, digital, power and high-frequency RF layouts.
  • Familiar with the placement and layout of PCBs involving SMT and through-hole components, passives, QFNs, QFPs, BGAs, SOICs, etc, thermal management and technologies such as MCUs, FPGAs, Ethernet Switches, Flash Memories, SRAMs, Ethernet PHYs, CAN and RF features.
  • Understanding of the layout constraints for high current point of load power supplies (switch mode and linear), current return paths, grounding options and thermal management.
  • A good understanding of the design processes and best practices for PCB Layout.
  • A good understanding of the PCB fabrication processes (conventional and sequential lamination), aware of the latest technologies, material selection, stack-ups, buried and blind vias etc.)
  • PCB design for EMC. DFM/DFT for volume manufacture.
  • Experience of using GNSS and GSM based modules for mobile tracking systems.
  • Experience of In System Programming (ISP) for various microcontrollers and digital devices
  • Experience in a range of GSM modules such as from Quectel, Tellit and Wavecom
