Inform3 are recruiting for an Environmental Co-Ordinator to work on civil projects in Donegal.

The Environmental Coordinator will work to minimise environmental impacts, and promote best practices in environmental sustainability throughout project lifecycles.

 

Environmental Co-Ordinator Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and monitor environmental management plans (EMPs) on civil construction sites, ensuring compliance with project specifications, contractual obligations, and legal/regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular environmental audits, inspections and site surveys; identify non-conformances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Monitor subcontractors and suppliers for environmental compliance.
  • Maintain records of environmental performance data, incidents, permit documentation and reporting.
  • Prepare environmental reports for internal management and external regulatory bodies as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation / review of method statements, risk assessments, environmental / sustainability sections of tenders and project plans.
  • Provide training and awareness sessions to site staff, subcontractors, and other stakeholders on environmental issues, policies, and best practices.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders including regulatory authorities, local communities, clients, consultants.
  • Support continuous improvement of environmental performance: suggest and implement improvements and innovations (e.g. waste reduction, biodiversity protection, erosion control, pollution avoidance).
  • Respond to environmental incidents, manage remediation or mitigation actions, investigate root causes and ensure follow‑up.
  • Ensure that all permits, licenses, consents (marine, water, wildlife etc.) are identified, secured, maintained and complied with.

 

Environmental Co-Ordinator Required Qualifications/Experience:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Ecology, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in construction / civil engineering / marine works environment (site‑based experience preferred).
  • Strong working knowledge of environmental legislation, standards, and best practice in Ireland
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 and environmental management systems.
  • Experience with audits and inspections, sitebased environmental monitoring, incident investigations.
  • Good communication skills (written & verbal), able to interact with site staff, subcontractors, regulators and clients.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, ability to manage multiple tasks/projects.
  • Problem solving mindset, able to make decisions or escalate issues appropriately.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; able to manage data, reports etc.
