Rightpath Construction Recruitment is working with a leading Building Contractor who have the requirement for a Health and Safety Manager to lead in the Health and Safety of all projects. The company is well established Contractor operating for over 25 years within the industry and have an excellent reputation. The company’s portfolio includes but isn’t limited to the following types of projects: Office Developments, Education Builds, Residential and Healthcare projects.

The company is looking for experienced professional who is up to date with latest legislation and best practice with a really outgoing and innovative approach to site-based Health and safety, someone who will engage with the workforce and bring them on side through training and development. Health and Safety Manager Duties

  • To carry out audits, investigations, internal enforcement and training and provide advice and assistance in order to achieve best practice and fulfil the statutory obligations imposed upon the Group in relation to health and safety.
  • To prepare, publish and update as necessary the Group's corporate Health and Safety policies
  • Chair Health and Safety meetings ensuring H&S compliance across the company as well as providing health and safety advice to advisors
  • To provide support to the Senior Management Team and other officers in respect of any investigation undertaken by the Health and Safety Executive in relation to activities of the Group.
  • To monitor and report on effectiveness of the company's safety policies and procedures through comprehensive audits
  • To advise colleagues on safety and health implications of new projects, premises, systems of work or substances.
  • To co-ordinate with the HR team to ensure appropriate focussed health and safety training for staff at all levels delivering in house training sessions, workshops and briefings as required.
  • To advise on the need for expansion, revision or other modification to corporate health and safety policies with reference to changes in legislation or operational arrangements.

Health and Safety Manager Criteria

  • Professional Health and Safety Qualification
  • IOSH membership
  • Excellent understanding of the main Health, Safety and Environmental Regulations.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of OHSAS:18001 and ISO:14001 certification standards.
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of ISO:9001 Quality management standards.
  • New Build commercial project experience
