Junior Civil Engineer

INFORM3 are recruiting a junior for an established civil engineering and infrastructure contractor delivering a range of major civils, earthworks, roads, drainage and energy projects across Scotland. The business works on large-scale projects and offers engineers the opportunity to gain strong site-based experience within an experienced and supportive team.
They are looking for a Junior Site Engineer with a Civil Engineering qualification and ideally 1–3 years’ site experience. The role would suit someone with exposure to setting out, surveying, earthworks, drainage or general civils, who is keen to develop their career on major infrastructure projects. Travel across Scotland is required.
Junior Civil Engineer Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Site Agent and engineering team with the day-to-day delivery of civil engineering works.
- Carry out setting out and surveying using GPS, Total Station and other site equipment.
- Assist with levels, measurements and site records.
- Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Monitor works to ensure they are completed in line with drawings, specifications and quality standards.
- Assist with drainage, earthworks, roads, concrete and general civils works.
- Liaise with subcontractors and site teams to ensure works are progressing as planned.
- Maintain accurate site records and assist with reporting and documentation.
- Support the preparation of RAMS, permits and other project documentation.
- Assist with quality control, inspections and resolving technical issues on site.
Junior Civil Engineer Requirements
- Degree/HND/HNC in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- 1–3 years' experience within civil engineering or construction.
- Previous site-based experience is desirable.
- Experience with setting out and surveying is advantageous.
- Good understanding of construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong IT and communication skills.
- Good organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Full UK driving licence desirable.
- Willingness to travel and work on site across Scotland.
- A strong work ethic and enthusiasm to develop within civil engineering.
