Mechanical Engineer – Commercial Fit-Out Projects

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Mechanical Engineer to join our client’s project delivery team, working across a number of high-quality commercial fit-out projects in Dublin City Centre.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the technical coordination, management and delivery of mechanical building services installations, ensuring projects are completed to the highest standards of quality, safety and programme requirements.
Working closely with the Contracts Manager, Project Manager, design teams and specialist subcontractors, you will be responsible for managing the technical and documentation aspects of mechanical services, from design review and coordination through to installation, testing, commissioning and final handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the successful delivery of mechanical building services across multiple commercial fit-out projects.
- Manage the technical and documentation aspects of mechanical installations from design development through to commissioning and handover.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, design teams, subcontractors and internal project teams to ensure effective communication and coordination.
- Ensure mechanical works are delivered in accordance with approved designs, project specifications and contractual requirements.
- Review and assess mechanical design documentation, specifications, contract drawings and technical submissions.
- Carry out regular site surveys, inspections and technical assessments to verify installation requirements and compliance with approved designs.
- Provide day-to-day technical support to the Site Management Team and mechanical subcontractors.
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolving mechanical installation and coordination issues.
- Ensure site teams are working from the latest approved drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
- Monitor mechanical installations to identify potential quality, coordination or programme issues at an early stage
- Work collaboratively with other building services disciplines to ensure effective integration of mechanical, electrical and architectural elements.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 3 years or relevant site-based experience in a Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering role.
- Third-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong practical knowledge of mechanical building services installations gained through construction site experience.
- Experience reviewing mechanical drawings, technical specifications and subcontractor submissions.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Navisworks, with an understanding of BIM coordination processes.
- Good understanding of mechanical systems, installation methodologies, testing and commissioning requirements.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work to demanding project deadlines.
- Ability to work independently, use initiative and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
- Previous experience working on commercial office fit-out or refurbishment projects
- Familiarity with HVAC, ventilation, chilled water, heating, domestic water and drainage systems.
