A prominent company in the Vacuum Pump sector is seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Fitter to join the repair workshop team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the remanufacturing and repair of vacuum pumps and related equipment, ensuring all mechanical work is performed to the highest standards. In addition to these core responsibilities, the role includes the critical task of assembling bespoke vacuum systems tailored to clients' specific needs. This requires a deep understanding of complex mechanical systems and the ability to integrate various components seamlessly. The successful candidate must be adept at interpreting technical drawings and specifications to ensure precision in assembly, guaranteeing optimal performance and reliability of the custom-built vacuum solutions. Their expertise in assembling bespoke systems will directly contribute to the organisations’ reputation for delivering high-quality, tailored vacuum technology solutions to a diverse range of industries.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Dismantle, inspect, repair, and reassemble vacuum pumps and related equipment.
  • Utilize a full range of mechanical skills, including machining, fitting, welding, and assembly.
  • Perform detailed inspections and diagnostic tests to identify faults and determine necessary repairs.
  • Ensure all repaired equipment meets Busch's stringent quality standards before release.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including inspection reports, repair logs, and parts used.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and best practices within the workshop environment.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained in good working order.
  • Work closely with other team members to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality output.
  • Stay up to date with the latest industry practices and participate in ongoing training as required.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant trade qualification or apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role, preferably within a repair workshop environment.
  • Strong mechanical fitting skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Competency in diagnosing mechanical & electrical faults and carrying out repairs.
  • Understanding of machine maintenance is an advantage.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills.
