Mechanical Project Manager

Location – County Tipperary

Salary - €70-80k + car

Due to continued project activity, we are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to take responsibility for the successful delivery of a new commercial project in County Tipperary.

You will take overall responsibility for the mechanical package, managing the project from mobilisation through construction, commissioning and final handover coordinating site teams, subcontractors, suppliers and the wider project team to ensure works are delivered safely, to programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.

This is a site-focused position suited to an experienced Mechanical Project Manager with a strong background in mechanical building services and a proven ability to manage projects through the full construction lifecycle. You’ll be technically strong, commercially aware and capable of building good relationships with site teams, subcontractors, consultants and clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of the mechanical works on site.
  • Take ownership of the mechanical project programme, ensuring key milestones and completion dates are achieved.
  • Coordinate mechanical services including HVAC, heating, chilled water, ventilation, plumbing, water services
  • Manage and coordinate mechanical subcontractors, direct labour and specialist suppliers.
  • Work closely with the Contracts Manager, commercial team, design team, main contractor, consultants and client representatives.
  • Review drawings, specifications, technical submittals and construction information prior to installation.
  • Identify technical and coordination issues and drive them through to resolution.
  • Coordinate mechanical services with electrical, structural, architectural and other building services disciplines.
  • Monitor progress against programme and provide regular project progress updates.
  • Manage procurement requirements and ensure plant, equipment and materials are available in line with the construction programme.
  • Support commercial management of the project, including variations, change control, valuations and cost monitoring.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship and ensure installations comply with project specifications, drawings and relevant industry standards.
  • Coordinate O&M documentation, as-built information, commissioning records and other handover requirements.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the client and wider project team.
  • Ensure the project is successfully delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to a high standard of installation.

Experience & Qualifications

  • A relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
  • Alternatively, a strong mechanical trade background combined with significant project management experience will be considered.
  • Previous experience working as a Mechanical Project Manager, Mechanical Contracts Manager or Senior Mechanical Engineer
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical building services and installation practices.
  • Experience managing projects from construction through testing, commissioning and handover.
  • Strong understanding of construction programmes, procurement schedules and project sequencing.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers and site-based teams.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Good commercial awareness and understanding of project cost control and variations.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety and quality requirements within the construction industry.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and leadership skills.
  • Ability to identify problems quickly and drive practical solutions on site.
  • Strong client-facing and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Full driving licence.
