About the Company:

This role involves collaborating closely with cross-functional teams within the business and directly liaising with Own Label customers to obtain project details and ensure clear communication throughout the product development lifecycle.

The Specifications Technologist works with the Development Chef to complete development briefs and plays a key role in ensuring the specifications are accurate, detailed, and up-to-date. The role also involves active participation in food safety teams such as HACCP to ensure product compliance and safety.

Duties Include:

  • Manage the concept development process from the initial brief through to launch within agreed timeframes.
  • Work closely with the NPD team and other departments to ensure seamless communication and progress of product development projects.
  • Liaise with customers to obtain project details, ensuring alignment with their requirements and expectations.
  • Coordinate the completion of development briefs in collaboration with the Development Chef, ensuring all product specifications are clearly outlined and meet customer needs.
  • Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with key Own Label customers.
  • Directly communicate with customers to obtain product details, specifications, and any additional requirements.
  • Present project progress and product specifications to customers, addressing any queries or concerns as necessary.
  • Ensure that all product specifications are accurately completed, updated, and aligned with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure that specifications are consistently met throughout the product development process.
  • Ensure that specifications are maintained and communicated effectively across all departments, including production, quality, and packaging.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., NPD, Production, Quality Assurance, and Packaging) to ensure specifications are followed and product quality is maintained.

 

 

 

Essential Criteria:

  • A degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • HACCP certification is essential, and additional food safety certifications are desirable.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in a specifications or quality-related role within the food manufacturing industry.
  • Experience in managing product specifications, working with cross-functional teams, and liaising with customers is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of food product development processes and customer specification requirements in the food industry is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for managing and reporting product specifications.
  • Familiarity with specification management systems and product documentation tools is an advantage.
