Inform3 are recruiting for a Project Manager to join a large & busy civils contractor working on a range of railway projects across Northern Ireland. The position will require travel across Northern Ireland and the hours will occasionally involve shift work at nights and weekends.

The successful candidate is likely to have 3 years+ relevant experience in a similar role. Railway experience is essential.

 

Project Manager Key responsibilities

  • Produce an effective and realistic Procurement Schedule in conjunction with the Project Quantity Surveyor (PQS).
  • Review the tender project programme and compile a Construction Programme Plan which identifies specific timescales for release of all information from all stakeholders - designers, clients, statutory bodies and issue to all relevant parties.
  • Arrange, chair and lead the Project Start-Up Meeting. Ensure that this is minuted and that allocated actions are dealt with.
  • Monitor the Construction Programme Plan to ensure that information is made available as required for procurement of subcontractors and construction of the works. Take full ownership of the construction programme and ensure that it is monitored and updated on a regular basis.
  • Lead the subcontractor procurement process and ensure that subcontractors are appointed on time, and are suitably experienced and competent in full compliance with the CDM Regulations.
  • Arrange and attend subcontractor Pre-Start meetings and chair regular subcontract progress / coordination meetings. Ensure daily safety briefing/coordination meetings with subcontractors take place.
  • Ensure that all relevant project correspondence and contractual notices are written and sent to all relevant parties.
  • Undertake the role of Temporary Works Coordinator and ensure full compliance with all aspects of the Temporary Works processes.
  • Ensure that regular commercial reviews are carried out in relation to all budgetary (cost/value) aspects of the project. Have a thorough understanding of the CVR process.
  • Provide guidance, instruction and leadership to the PQS as and when necessary.
  • Ensure that full detailed records of all site works are kept and maintained on site and identify and promote commercial opportunities in this regard w.r.t. possible contractual claims.
  • Develop and ensure a positive working relationship with clients. Ensure that a comprehensive client progress report is produced for the monthly meetings and that all actions from client progress meetings are swiftly dealt with.
  • Ensure that all site management and operatives are sufficiently trained for their roles and identify training needs. Arrange and chair weekly project review meetings with the team.
  • Ensure that an End of Project Review Meeting is organised.
  • Ensure that an effective and regimental snagging process is instigated, administered and concluded.
  • Ensure all administrative aspects of the project are managed and implemented effectively, and that all project correspondence is properly archived at Completion.
  • Develop the Health and Safety Plan and ensure that this is approved by all stakeholders prior to works commencing on site. Ensure that the Health and Safety Plan is reviewed and updated on a regular basis to ensure full legislative compliance.
  • Be familiar with all relevant SHEQ legislation and ensure full compliance with the Company SHEQ Policy, individual role responsibilities. Ensure that the Project Health and Safety File / O&M’s / Building Manuals are produced and submitted on a timely basis.
  • Develop the site quality management plan and ensure full compliance with all processes and procedures.
  • Ensure specified quality standards are understood within the project team and supply chain and ensure that they are delivered on site.
  • Using personal expertise and technical/professional knowledge, provide advice and direction to all stakeholders in the delivery of project.
  • Ensure high levels of professionalism and lead by example whilst maintaining effective working relationships with all stakeholders.

 

Project Manager Job Specification:

  • 3+ years relevant experience.
  • Railway experience is essential.
  • Civil Engineer Degree.
  • Ideally have a CSR Card Gold standard, Street works Card and Temporary Works Coordinator
  • Highly organised and motivated
  • Competent on Microsoft Office.
  • Full driving license.
