Trainee / Junior Quantity Surveyor (Civils)
A specialist civil engineering contractor based in Dublin is currently on the lookout for a junior or trainee QS to join the ever-growing commercial team. The role will be of a Junior Quantity Surveyor reporting directly to the Director.
You will be expected to assist with the management of several projects and assist with contract management. You will also be required to assist with Site Works/Site Meetings/Site duties including capturing changes and variations to contracts and measured works along with the general QS duties.
This is an excellent role for someone to gain experience with different aspects of the business.
Duties
- The role will initially be predominantly focused around the delivery of projects based in Dublin
- Assisting with ensuring robust commercial processes are in place.
- Assisting with a number of live projects or projects at pre-implementation phase.
- Management and control of sub-contract accounts and variation accounts.
- Assisting and liaising with the buyers on materials procurement.
- Measure progress, assist in submitting valuations, final accounts in a timely manner.
- Attend project and company-related meetings.
- To carry out any other reasonable duties assisting other members of the QS team
Key requirements
- An understanding of Civil Engineering and Highways measurement principles
- Commercial awareness and the willingness to learn / be part of a team.
- A basic understanding of all main forms of NEC, ICE and JCT contracts.
- An understanding of general IT systems (Microsoft Office suite, Excel.
- An understanding of cost and contract management systems.
