Quantity Surveyor
The Role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to be a part of a growing Commercial Team to deliver the commercial requirements of the business within the civil engineering and utilities industry. They work across multi utility projects from water through to fibre network builds.
This is a great opportunity to join a growing business based at our Head Office in Antrim. The role will involve working closely with the local Operations Team, our clients and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- To assist in collating, prepare & reviewing Cost & Value Reports on a weekly and monthly basis
- Carry out measurement of work and compile payment applications and invoice completed works
- Resolve invoice queries to ensure the position is well managed and turned into payment
- To proactively manage job and project costs to optimise margins
- Create and negotiate subcontract packages
- Review and report on contract performance both internally and externally with the client
- Identify efficiency savings and better ways of working to improve service delivery and margins
- Assess and agree Compensation Events with the client
- Offer support and guidance to other members of the team where appropriate
- Build relationships and rapports internally across departments and externally with our clients
- Ensure that company policies and procedures are adhered to at all times
- To assist as required and where necessary with any other commercially related functions
Knowledge/Skills required:
- Proven track record of understanding and use of NEC suites of contract
- Proven experience working in a commercial role, preferably within the utilities sector
- Knowledge and understanding of measurement and valuation including use of schedule of rates and rate cards
- Commercial skills to maximise value recovery and cost control
- Good communication and time management skills
- Risk and Opportunity Management
- Knowledge and understanding of contractual obligations under various forms of contract including NEC
- Excellent IT skills including the use of internal cost systems and particularly advanced in Excel
- Experience of managing and improving internal and external relationships and conflict handling
- Understanding of KPI drivers for the business and our Clients
