Our client is very keen to add new talent to their commercial team, and are looking for a candidate who comes from a strong procurement background within construction who can bring their expertise and knowledge to the firm.

The Role

  • Develop and implement a procurement strategy to ensure cost savings and supplier performance targets are met.
  • Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and CAD technicians to determine the procurement needs for each construction project.
  • Obtain quotes and prices from sub-contractors & suppliers.
  • Evaluate supplier quality and negotiate pricing to deliver cost savings .
  • Place orders and monitor purchased items’ lead times to ensure timely delivery of all items.
  • Identify potential suppliers and maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers.
  • Prepare and manage requests for quotations from estimating for the tender process.
  • Monitor inventory levels, track material usage, and forecast procurement needs.
  • Work closely with the finance department to reconcile purchase orders, invoices, and payments.
  • Implement and maintain a centralized procurement database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records of suppliers, contracts, and pricing agreements.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and changes in regulations that may impact procurement activities.

What you need

  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar role in construction procurement
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Great communication skills both verbal and non-verbal
  • Excellent negotiation and organisational Skills
  • Ability to prioritise important tasks
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. A relevant professional certification (e.g., Certified Professional in Supply Management, Certified Purchasing Manager) is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Purchasing Manager or in a similar procurement role within the construction industry.
