Job Title – Senior Maintenance Technician (Day Role)

Job Location – County Limerick

Salary – €55K - €65K (Dependent on Experience)

 

About the Role:

Our client, a well-established and continuously growing organisation based in County Limerick, is seeking an experienced Senior Maintenance Technician to join their high-performing engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled maintenance professional to play a key role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and performance of plant equipment and production systems.

The successful candidate will have a strong multi-skilled background, combining mechanical maintenance expertise with advanced electrical fault-finding capabilities. The ideal candidate will have experience working within a fast-paced industrial manufacturing environment and possess the ability to troubleshoot, repair, and improve complex production equipment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective mechanical and electrical maintenance support across production equipment, machinery, and site facilities.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities in line with the maintenance schedule and company procedures.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults on production machinery.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to equipment breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
  • Complete corrective maintenance activities and identify root causes of recurring equipment failures.
  • Support the implementation of equipment reliability improvements and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Carry out installation, modification, and commissioning activities on new and existing equipment.
  • Assist with equipment upgrades, process improvements, and engineering projects as required.
  • Maintain and repair a wide range of industrial machinery, including motors, drives, sensors, conveyors, pumps, hydraulics, and pneumatic systems.
  • Perform electrical fault finding using appropriate diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic drawings.
  • Identify required spare parts, tools, and consumables to support preventative maintenance activities and equipment repairs.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and update documentation following all repairs and interventions.
  • Record preventative maintenance activities, breakdowns, and repairs in line with ISO standards using the company CMMS system.
  • Monitor equipment performance and highlight opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in accordance with company health and safety procedures.
  • Work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to improve equipment availability and operational efficiency.

 

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience working within an industrial manufacturing or production environment.
  • Proven experience maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting industrial machinery and automated production equipment.
  • Strong mechanical maintenance background with excellent electrical fault-finding skills.
  • Experience working within a structured preventative maintenance environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems, including motors, bearings, gearboxes, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Good understanding of electrical systems associated with manufacturing equipment, including sensors, motors, control circuits, and drives.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic drawings.
  • Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for maintenance reporting and tracking.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • FETAC Level 6 qualification or equivalent recognised technical qualification.

 

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience within a highly automated manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of PLC fault finding and industrial control systems.
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement or lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Experience with equipment upgrades, installations, and commissioning projects.
