Senior Manufacturing Engineer - West Cork

Our prestigious client has a new opening due to growth and expansion. This role is ideal for an engineer with a mechanical or electrical background. The company specializes in sourcing, producing, and distributing minerals and ingredients, primarily for the health, nutrition, and food industries. They emphasize sustainable practices and innovative technologies to ensure the highest quality products.

The successful candidate will join the team to oversee new installations and maintain current plant and equipment. This position involves providing manufacturing support and driving quality and process improvements. It is perfect for candidates with strong technical skills and a solid engineering background, both academically and professionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance the design and efficiency of current and planned processing equipment.
  • Collaborate with management and engineering teams to propose and develop projects aligned with continuous improvement goals.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Oversee and coordinate third-party contractor activities within the plant.
  • Manage and maintain the plant's physical assets, providing technical support for production and equipment repairs.
  • Communicate directly with the Plant Manager/Head of Operations regarding plant operations, maintenance, safety, and relevant updates.
  • Ensure all engineering tasks comply with safety and environmental policies.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to ensure smooth equipment operation.
  • Utilize manuals, diagrams, and specifications for planning and executing maintenance and repairs.
  • Analyze and resolve system failures and equipment issues using standard methodologies.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot existing mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Document upgrades and changes to equipment.
  • Lead the maintenance team in implementing OEE and maintenance management systems effectively.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • B.Eng. (Hons) Level 8 / M.Eng in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent qualifications and experience.
  • 5 years of experience as an electro-mechanical technician.
  • Ability to write reports and policies.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent decision-making and interpersonal skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of health and safety practices.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Proven experience with Lean Six Sigma.
  • Self-motivated with efficient work habits and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in critical thinking and problem-solving.
  • Able to collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team in a regulated setting.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
