Job Title – Specifications Technologist

Job Location – Co. Armagh

Salary – £30K - £35K BOE 

 

About the Company:

Our client here at Inform3 based in County Armagh are currently recruiting for a Specifications Technologist to join their team.

In this role you will be responsible for ensuring technical support in finished good specifications, artwork approvals, Internal Audits and process approval of new products.

It is important for this role that the candidate has the ability to upload approved cutter profiles onto customer portals on a regular basis when required.

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Approve and maintain finished product specifications for all finished products supplied. This will include:
  • Completing specifications in accordance with customer protocols ensuring data provided is accurate, valid, and compliant with customer requirements, relevant legislation and company policy.
  • Calculating and generating ingredient declarations in required customer format.
  •  Ensure that all data and/or claims that are linked with product specifications can be supported and are validated against customer requirements, legislation and company policy.
  • Receive, evaluate and action as appropriate requests to amend/update specifications ensuring effective communication with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Legal pack copy generation of technical information required for product packaging (Primary and Secondary) ensuring compliance with customer requirements and relevant legislation.
  • Artwork Approval (covering primary and secondary packaging) – working with all relevant stakeholders to ensure packaging artwork designs are compliant with legal/customer technical requirements.
  • Ensure all relevant supporting documentation has been completed to the required standard and is linked to the appropriate specification. This may include, but is not limited to, nutrition results, QAS/CCP documents and certificates.
  • Keep up to date with customer and legal requirements and ensure all customer portals are maintained.
  • Consider and respond to customer queries regarding specifications as and when they arise.
  • Present product specifications to customers as required during visits/audits and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Provide guidance and support to other departments as required to support understanding and awareness of specific customer requirements.
  • Work closely with other functions, particularly product development and raw materials supply chain teams, to ensure collaboration on timescales.
  • Keep up to date with process changes in factories where they could impact specifications.
  • Complete internal audits that have been assigned to you and are independent of your area of work, write up reports and close out any nonconformances.
  • Be present at NPD trials, NPD handover and first production for new productions, ensuring all quality and technical paperwork is complete (e.g. recipes, work instructions, QAS and PCs are still applicable).

 

Experience Required:

  • Degree or equivalent in a technical, food related or science-based discipline.
  • 1+ years previous experience working within a similar role within Food Manufacturing Environment.
  • Experience with retailer online specification portals.
  • Knowledge of Food Safety Principles/Good Manufacturing Practises with a passion to promote food safety culture with a 'can-do' attitude.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent communications Skills.
  • Able to prioritise multiple activities/requirements and to complete them to the expected level of detail and accuracy.
  • Reliable and strong work ethic with attention to detail.
